Section III: Occupational Exploration

Now that you've researched the career that seems to suit you well, you have become somewhat of an expert in understanding all the aspects of that particular occupation. Pretend a friend of yours thought they might be interested in pursuing the same career. What would you say are the pros and cons of choosing that particular field?

  2. I think that it would be a good job for some people to try to work on hard wood floors. The one good thing is that you dont stay at one place for along peroid. Also, the pay is good but the more experence you have the better the pay you will get. Other thing thats is good about working with floors you will get to know the diffrent type of wood. there is a down fall if you cant be on your feet all day or be on your knees then this job might not be for you .

  3. I would tell my friend that an overnight clerk is an excellent job that has full benefits when you get full time. There's also room for advancement also the pay is great. The down fall is that the job is very physical and your on your feet all the time.

  4. The career I choose is a seceretary. The pros for this job is working inside all year round , you sit alot so you don't have to be on your feet all day. It has full benefits, and the pay is good with the job being close to home. The cons would be dealing with mean people.

  5. If my friend wanted the same job as me, I would encourage it and tell them that its a great job because you get to work with customers, work outside most of the time, and work with different equipment. But the bad thing about painting is that most of the time you deal with alot of rude customers that are very pickey about what they want and a lot of times they keep changing their mind.

  6. The careers I chose are: Oil Rig hand and Masonry and Concrete finishing.
The Pros of being a Rig hand are having steady work, good pay, good benefits and you can advance into other positions. The Cons would be being away from your family for different periods of time and possibly being in a different state.
The Pros of a Masonry/Concrete finishing career would be helping people out by building their houses or garages, its a good paying career
The cons would be that its not a very in demand job around West Virginia.

  7. I would tell him or her that they should try it. If they like to do hard work and to work with their hands and other people, they would like the job. Most of the day you would be on your hands and knees. But if you are not a morning person, then this job would not be for you. Most people don't like to work with their hands or be on their knees all day.I enjoy this type of work because at the end of a work day, I feel good about what I have done.

  8. I chose a career in massage therapy. It's a hands-on work that requires you to stand on your feet for long periods of time. You can do in-home care, work in a hospital, or a place like a resort. The hours are flexible, and I am inerested in continuing to go to school so that I can eventually become a physical therapist. I think being a massage therapist would prepare me to get into the field of physical therapy. In a way, massage therapy opens the door for learning other things.
